Vishay Intertechnology has released a new series of surface-mount transient voltage suppressors (TVS) that are rated at 1500 W. Designed for reliable performance in automotive systems, the T15BxxA (unidirectional) and T15BxxCA (bidirectional) series are qualified to AEC-Q101 standards and can operate at temperatures up to +185 °C.
These devices, packaged in the compact SMB (DO-214AA) form factor, need 58% less board space in comparison to TVS diodes in the SMC (DO-214AB) package. This helps reduce costs by shrinking the PCB and overall system size. The T15BxxA series is available with breakdown voltages from 12 V to 51 V, while the T15BxxCA covers 12 V to 100 V. Both versions offer strong clamping performance up to 70.1 V and 137 V, respectively, and also provide fast response to voltage transients. These diodes help safeguard sensitive circuits from energy surges caused by inductive switching and lightning events.
Their applications include automotive lighting, electro-mechanical brake systems, fuel pumps, 48 V DC/DC converters, onboard chargers, battery management systems, radar sensors, and telematics control units. They are compliant with RoHS directives, built using halogen-free materials, and have a MSL Level 1 moisture sensitivity rating per J-STD-020. The T15B series components are now available across popular distributors like DigiKey, Mouser, element14, and Farnell with 12-week lead times.
